Young Writers Receive Recognition
February 26, 2025

The Wilcox Sophomore Literacy Lab classes, led by Ms. Alecia Walkuski, are proud to announce that 14 sophomore students have been selected to have their writing published by YoungWriters USA, a nationwide writing publication for students ages 10-18. This will be the fourth consecutive year that Ms. Walkuski has facilitated students’ being published!
These 14 students were invited to write a mini saga for “Fright Club,” the short story contest designed to help students find their voice and express themselves, which will be published in the book, Fright Club-Beyond the Grave, to be released on April 14, 2025. Editorial review and sections take “a broad view of what makes a good story: perception, imagination, and creativity are important as well as expression, originality and use of language.”
Please join us in congratulating these students: Yamileth Aguilar, Genesis Alvelo, Evelyn Baculima, Conner Barnard, Austin Boughton, Kevin Galvez, Alison Guzman-Cocoma, Cayden Landry, Nyasiah Mitchell, Ranija Muriel, Haylie Pepe, Makayla Rodriguez, Meliah Velez, and Michael Weyant.
We are very proud of you.
