Wilcox Young Writers Published
March 14, 2023
The Wilcox Literacy Lab classes, led by Ms. Alecia Walkuski, are proud to announce that FORTY-SEVEN freshmen, sophomore, and junior students have been selected to have their writing published by Young Writers USA, a nationwide writing contest for students ages 10-18.
These 47 students composed a mini-saga, a story of 100-words or less, from the perspective of a villain. This writing contest is designed to “boost confidence and showcase writing skills, as well as giving students a real audience and purpose in their writing.” Entries will be published in the book, Twisted Tales-Enchanted Words, scheduled to be released on March 31, 2023. Editorial review and selections have the goal of “encouraging young adults to enjoy creative writing, [and] our editorial policy takes a broad view of what makes a good story: perception, imagination and creativity are important as well as expression, originality and use of language.”
