KBE Scholarship Awarded
June 13, 2018
On June 13, 2018, KBE handed out $19,000 in scholarship checks to 19 graduating seniors in the CT Technical High School system including Wilcox senior Jamal Boujjaj at a special awards event here in the CT office! The students and their parents were on hand for a reception and check presentation.
This is the third year that KBE has awarded scholarships to technical high school seniors. In the past, the schools’ guidance counselors recommended students for the award. This year, the students to wrote a 500-word essay about their education plans and why they are deserving of the award. There were nearly 40 applications to choose from, and the caliber of these young people and their passion for our industry is remarkable. Several of these students are pursuing Construction Management degrees and we have encouraged them to apply for our internship program during their junior year. We also provided them with other industry resources, such as the CT ABC, CCIA, CT Society of Professional Engineers, and the American Institute of Architects.
To date, the association has provided $55,000 in scholarships to those students who are pursuing post-tech high school education programs (2- or 4-year college degrees, trade-specific certification programs, and other education programs) in the construction, architecture, and engineering fields.
