Weekly Update

Greetings Wilcox!

We survived another week of distance learning. You are doing remarkably well considering how challenging this has been! I am proud of you!

Ms. Wagner created an organizer for students to use during the next two weeks. I encourage you to use it, or something else that works for you, to keep yourself organized and on track.  Please Click Here fo Link to PDF document

Moving forward, our cycles will continue to rotate each week. Here is the schedule:

GRADING:
Recently, our grading policy was revised to align with the CT State Department of Education’s recommendations. As you know, we are a large district, spread out across all geographic locations in Connecticut. Consideration had to be given to all areas and all students. Some highlights of the temporary policy include:

  • Class Rank and Cumulative GPA for the 2019-2020 school year have been calculated based upon Q1 and Q2 stored grades in PowerSchool.
  • Report cards for Q3 are expected to be live on PowerSchool the week of May 11th.
  • The district has moved to a Pass/Fail for Q3 and Q4.  The end of the year grade will be determined  by the average of  the Quarter 1 numeric grade, the Quarter 2 numeric grade, and from graded work in Quarters 3 and Quarter 4.  That average will be used in order to determine if a student has passed a course and will earn credit for the course. It is very important for students to continue working in each of their classes, putting forth their best efforts.
  • Students should be participating in their electives courses as well as Literacy and Math Lab. These classes are credit-bearing and may be needed for graduation.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teachers, school counselor, or administrator.

Thank you,
Dr. Butkus, Principal
